Illustration/Painting

“Tree Girl”. Graphite.

This illustration explores feelings of serenity brought about by integration with nature. It is as if the girl is a part of the tree itself and the encircling branches become extensions of her body, or reminiscent of veins.

“Forbidden Fruit” Graphite.

In this illustration titled “forbidden fruit”, fruit becomes symbolic of thoughts and words. The imagery signifies the growth an formation of a thought, perhaps one that is dangerous or burdensome in nature. Also suggested here is a parasitic presence taking hold of him, overgrowing and eating at him from the inside out. This “thought” is overtaking the figure, transforming his very being, and on its way to becoming wholly a part of him

"Disseverance" Acrylic on Canvas 24"x36" 2011. A piece dealing with duality, the feeling of splitting out in separate directions, or signifying a shift within ones self.

"Dissipate 2/3" Acrylic on Canvas. 36"x48" 2013.

A series exploring ambiguity, obscurity, inner psychology, isolation, and mystery. My intent with this work was to experiment with how light makes the figure take form, and create the illusion of emergence from the canvas itself. I worked with an entirely black canvas, gradually building subtle layers of white paint on top of it.
